SPARC is pleased to announce that a team led by Dr. Daniel von Renteln at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal has received a 2025 Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Team Grant, with Dr. Neal Shahidi as a co-principal investigator. The team also includes several expert centres from around the world.
This five-year grant, valued at $952,426, will fund a randomized controlled trial evaluating endoscopic techniques for the management of large colorectal polyps. The study will directly compare resection approaches and post-resection strategies aimed at reducing recurrence.
Large colorectal polyps remain a major clinical challenge. While endoscopic resection offers a minimally invasive solution, recurrence continues to affect patient outcomes and follow-up care. This work reflects SPARC’s ongoing commitment to advancing collaborative research and improving outcomes for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.
